To participate in a contest, all participants must have a Contest Pass. Also, participants in a contest don't have to be coordinators. Those who wish to earn a ribbon must do so in the order of the ranks: Normal, Super, Hyper, Master.
Workings of a Contest
All pokemon contests will consist of 4 to 8 participants and will be divided between 2-3 rounds. If not enough participants are available, NPC coordinators will be used to fill the positions. The first round will be an appeals round, followed by a battle round.
In this round, each participant chooses one pokemon and will have one post to dazzle the crowd and the judges with a fantastic display of move combination. Each participant will be judged by 3 staff members controlling the judges and given a score out of 30 points, each judge giving a score from 0-10, with either the top 2 moving on in a 4 person contest or the top 4 moving on in a 6-8 person contest.
In this round the remaining participants will be paired up to battle against one another in which each is given 30 battle points. During this time, the participants may choose a different pokemon from their party than the one used in the appeals round. The battle will continue for a limit of 10 posts in which the participants battle. The battle will be decided either when one pokemon faints or when the post count runs out, by which the winner will be decided by the pokemon with the most points.
Battle points may be lost in on of three ways, by taking damage, by the attack missing, or the attack being countered by moves such as detect/protect.
Damage taken: - 3 points
Attacks miss: - 2 points
attacks countered: - 2 points
One Hit KO attacks are banned from use in the Battle Rounds.
The winner of each contest will be awarded with the ribbon from that town.
